Separation and divorce a painful for the entire family. Children are often caught in the middle of their parents uncoupling. Family roles are redefined. No longer husband and wife, parents must find ways to continue their roles as mother and father. Transparenting, is a nationally acclaimed program created by Families First of Atlanta, Georgia. It currently serves 70,000 parents per year nationwide. The four-hour seminar has consistently received high ratings from parent participants. This educational seminar is designed to help minimize the negative impact of divorce, separation and custody issues on children and teens. At a time when parents are naturally preoccupied with their own adjustments, they must also recognize that their joint roles as parents continue to exist. The seminar helps parents begin to restructure their relationship and make appropriate plans for their children. Nationally, 97% of participating parents report that Transparenting information has influenced their behavior and helped them better understand their children. Furthermore, those court systems which mandate the program attendance have realized significant decreases in the number of families reappearing in court for custody and visitation issues. All group leaders participating in the Transparenting program are experienced mental health professionals with a minimum of a Masters degree. They are all experts in helping children and families through times of transition (separation, divorce or remarriage). JFS offers this 4 hour seminar to parents, grandparents or concerned persons of all races, religions and economic situations. JFS also offers comprehensive counseling services for children, teens and their families who are facing separation, custody, divorce and remarriage. An age appropriate support group for children of divorcing families is also available. Cost... The cost of the parent seminar is $50 per person and includes the parent handbook which highlights seminar material, lists excellent reference books and offers direction in locating community resources.
