Special needs children are much like other children in their
interests, desire to be independent, concern with mastery, and feelings of fear, jealousy
and anger. Yet, they are also different because their disabilities seriously affect their
perception of and relationship to the world.
The clinical staff at Jewish Family Service have been
specially trained to provide and arrange diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic services
for children and adolescents with special needs, including those diagnosed with:
- Visual disabilities
- Developmental disabilities
- Hearing impairments
- Chronically Ill Children
- Learning disabilities
- Children with motor impairments
See COUNSELING
FOR CHILDREN, AND TEENS for an
explanation of services available.
Summer
Camp Program - Coordination with the Simon Family Jewish Community Center's Day Camp program for children with special needs is facilitated by JFS Special Needs staff who
are active consultants/participants in this effort to mainstream special needs children
into a normal day camp routine, with the ability to participate fully in all activities.
For more information about these services please contact Jewish Family Service.
