Jewish Family Service of Tidewater Volunteer Opportunities Listed below are specific volunteer needs. For more information, about volunteering with older adult programs contact Judy at 757-321-2222 or via email: For further information about volunteering with the Immediate Need for: A Volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels – pick meal at JFS and deliver to Norfolk every Thursday. -Volunteers are needed to monitor the comfort and care of some of our guardianship clients who are in nursing facilities in Heritage Hall, The Atria and Autumn Care of Norfolk. Once a month visits are requested. -Substitute drivers are needed for our monthly (3rd Thursday of the month) Virginia Beach Senior Lunch Group. Please call Judy Freedman, JFS Volunteer Coordinator, at 321-2223 if you would like to help! Personal Affairs Management Volunteer - Volunteers work on behalf of P.A.M. Clients to organize and pay personal bills, balance checking accounts, and organize mail in a timely and effective manner. (Posted 02/06/06) Aarvy Aardvark Finds Hope The JFS staff is also available by appointment at the Dozoretz Center for Family Healing to meet with any child identified by their parents or guidance counselor as needing a little extra support through individual counseling. Contact Debra Mayer, dmayer@jfshamtonroads.org or by phone at 757.459.4640 Baskets of Hope - Volunteers custom-design and assemble centerpieces for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, baby namings, and luncheons. Proceeds from this endeavor benefit agency clients who, without the help of the JFS Baskets of Hope program, might have to choose between needed medications and food. Volunteers assist with shopping on the floor of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, unloading food delivery trucks, organizing and sorting food and distributing food to clients. Posted (9/10/05) Friendly Visitor - Caring individuals undertake a one-on-one relationship with a JFS client who is isolated and in need of companionship.
